5/5 stars!

Meira’s finale and parting words in the final page are just so epic; I honestly literally gave her a standing ovation which I also dedicate to Ms. Sara Raasch for writing this fantastic start to a fantasy series that I’m afraid I’m trapped into. Jeez! I knew I shouldn’t be starting books in a series because it’s just too hard to get out of them especially when they’re as good as Snow Like Ashes. This book achieved every single thing that Finnikin’ of the Rock failed. I apologize for the comparison but it’s inevitable because the two books are very similar in their premise. (I still love you though, Melina Marchetta and I highly recommend her YA contemporary Looking for Alibrandi and On the Jellicoe Road).

Talking about the subject novel of this review (sorry about the commercials), I have nothing much to say except that everything about it is amazing- the writing, the pace, the suspense and the plot twists, even the world building and most especially the characterization. Meira is exactly my kind of heroine. I love her humor

“I’m wearing a ball gown. How many times will I have this opportunity? I drop into a sweeping curtsy, skirt fluffing out in my descent, fabric swallowing me up.”

…her fierceness

“I’m going to yank his eyes out through his nostrils”

and her determination. I cannot remember the last time my heart got torn into two equal halves rooting for two equally noble and gorgeous heroes -Mather or Theron. (Whoever loses his place in Meira’s heart has a very huge place in mine, so hush now my darlings and hush now my heart, because we already got the copy of the second book and soon we’ll continue with this epic series. ;))

Hi! I'm Aj from the Philippines. Obviously I love to read and write and from years of experience I have learned that when you love something so much, you would do it absolutely for free so here I am writing stuff for all people to see in the hopes that at least one or maybe two souls could benefit or get little inspiration from what they will read from this blog. Enjoy and spread the love! ;)
