I could always count on Jessi Kirby for a beautiful story of moving forward after a tragic life experience or after a death of a loved one. In The Secret History of Us, it’s very ironic but probably even more painful because Olivia lost hers after a supposedly fatal accidental which she miraculously survived and four years of her life has been completely wiped off from her memory and now she doesn’t know exactly how to live, even more Ironic because here nickname is Liv.
The writing is simple but in that gorgeous way and descriptive in that easy to imagine way. I also appreciate how the author makes it possible to insert romance in the story without ever making it always about romance. It’s the same with In Honor, Golden and Things We Know by Heart.
The plot is fast-paced that I was able to easily read it in just a matter of a few hours but the characters and themes are still very much well-explored. I usually think that’s what good writing is supposed to be- short, simple but meaningful and may I also mention how much I’m loving that cover. I don’t know why but I just do.
Another heartwarming story from one of my favorite authors.
