I usually have only high regard for books that have characters with autism which is the very reason I wanted to read The Kiss Quotient. My fault for not reading reviews on books because WOAH! I was definitely surprised because this might yet be my most smutty read. In fact, I was almost cringing at the amount of sexual stuff that ranges from heavy to honestly pornographic which took probably 70% of the pages of the story and I was starting to question my decision about reading the book. (Lol)
I do not regret that I still pushed through because it still was quite entertaining even though the plot is very predictable, like any other sexy rom-com I have read but it was until I read the Author’s Note that I have appreciated it better and tried to look back at the story through Ms. Hoang’s perspective.
Ms. Helen Hoang’s realization and sharing of her diagnosis (which was only diagnosed two years prior the publication of this book) and how by writing Stella’s story, she was able to voice out and show to the world her true self which she inhibited for a very long period of time. It makes me glad that through the process of writing a novel and giving the reader something entertaining to read, the author has also managed to help herself come to terms with who she is.
Special thanks to my friend, (Ate) Claire for this book. ❤
