I think I can now rely on Ms. Emma Mills for a good story of friendship with characters that grow on you. I remember it’s the same with her other book I’ve read, “This Adventure Ends”. At first I wasn’t sure I would like it but as I read on, it becomes more and more entertaining, funny, and heartwarming.
The dialogues are often hilarious and relatable. I really appreciate Claudia‘s character. I like that she feels just average on her personal standards, knows that she’s not a special snowflake but she doesn’t worry about it. In fact she’s generally kindhearted and warm to most people. It’s like she gets people even the awful ones. I wish I was like her. Her friendship with her childhood best friend and with her new friend is adorable. I just have a soft spot for girls who cackle. Lol. I like that she gets what she deserves in the end and realizes she’s worthy of great things like an effervescent guy whose eyes will need you to Google map to get out of (that’s how funny the writing is).
The story features a closer more intrinsic and hearty look at school plays, boy band fandom, and gaming relatably and I completely enjoyed it. Perhaps some of the characters are a bit overdone but I’m not really bothered much. Overall an enjoyable YA read that’s got a bit of everything in it.
