Atmospheric is indeed quite the perfect adjective for the book. I thought I was already over psycho-thrillers because the past few books I’ve read recently have been honestly overhyped. I think most of them didn’t work because they’re trying too hard, trying to be too mysterious, overusing unreliable narrators, putting too many complicated twists which only turn up often annoying and unsatisfying.
Peter Swanson‘s style is right up my alley. The plot is fast paced end everything that took place in the story was necessary for the main conflict. No excessive descriptions of characters’ traits or even psychological musings and yet I was able to completely grasp the characters’ messed up minds in the way they think and act. There’s even poetic justice in the end, every character getting exactly what they deserve.
I’m glad I finally found a P. Swanson book. I could now definitely add him to my trusted psycho-thriller authors right next toΒ Harlan Coben. π
