BLACK LIVES MATTER by Samantha Faye Gatus (my brilliant niece ^^)

There are a lot of issues that we CAN’T control, such as an ongoing pandemic. However, there are issues we CAN control but are often overlooked and ignored.

It’s 2020.

We, as people, are supposed to have evolved from an ancient mindset that we aren’t equal. We’re supposed to have learned from the past in order to prevent repetition. We’re supposed to take every movement of human rights seriously. We’ve grown so much in order to build a more fair society, yet we regress further back because of a select few who refuse to educate themselves. Two steps forward and four steps backward because of people who choose hate and close their minds to progress.

We need to change and keep going forward. People’s lives are on the line and we can’t afford to keep going back. Let’s take this time and educate ourselves and use that knowledge to push for progress. Whatever privilege you may have, use it to your advantage and share that privilege. Be the front lines of the voices that need to be heard so we can make way for those who can’t break through on their own. Use the privilege to HELP instead of living in ignorance. Use your privileged voice to be louder than oppression.

I’m sick and tired of people staying “neutral” in these matters. There’s no such thing as neutral when it’s a fight for something fundamental. A fight to be able to live freely. There’s no room for neutrality when people are getting killed because of their skin color. Make yourself aware of the issues around you that revolve around HUMAN RIGHTS because it’s such a dangerous issue that is costing so many innocent lives.

#BlackLivesMatter must matter before all lives do because you can’t say all lives matter when you’re leaving people who are our equal out just because of their skin color. It’s so important to let their voices be heard and for us to support them. We have to use what privilege we have to lift them up and be their allies. We need to help educate others and help people in general. Choose the side of progress, not the side of power.

Hi! I'm Aj from the Philippines. Obviously I love to read and write and from years of experience I have learned that when you love something so much, you would do it absolutely for free so here I am writing stuff for all people to see in the hopes that at least one or maybe two souls could benefit or get little inspiration from what they will read from this blog. Enjoy and spread the love! ;)
