Just when I thought Harlan Coben novels are becoming predictable, I was almost sure where the plot was headed, something unexpectedly happens in the story, a twist so unpredictable and I was once again proven wrong. I know now not to doubt Mr. Coben.
What I really like about the author’s work is his reliable and consistent humor including the pop references, even alluding to Katniss Everdeen. Just hilarious. His narrative is also very intense and gripping. Once you start reading, you wouldn’t want to stop and wouldn’t want to miss a single line of the entire novel. I’m particularly biased with this book because the hero is a woman, a former soldier, who can be very serious and formal but who is also very funny when her sarcasm shines. It also helps that she has an adorable two-year old little girl.
Overall, Fool Me Once is a satisfying, fast-paced thriller with an intriguing plot, agreeable resolutions, and a good ending.
