Sometimes the darkest tragedies brings us the brightest lights.”
I have now officially proven that romance books with cartoon covers can never be trusted. This one’s cutesy cover and title will not prepare you for the tragedy that happens early on in the story and the smut a bit later. Lol.
In fairness to the title though, Dax and Kailyn did have an adorable meet-cute so the title is still well deserved and even though the story isn’t exactly a romantic comedy, it’s still a good one. The quote above pretty much paints the general picture of the novel.
Also, I highly approve of the he said, she said POV. I always find this the best narrative mode for romance books and I also enjoyed the little mystery in the plot. Perhaps my only complaint is the smut down the middle of the book. It isn’t really the smut that bothered me, it’s more of how it seemed to come out of nowhere. Now when I see cartoon covers in romance books, I will automatically think it’s smutty. Lol. Nevertheless, this book overall is still a pleasantly surprising romance. Smut aside, I would even recommend it
